Yellow Clay

Yellow Clay Mask – Get Back Your Natural Glow with Beautiful Skin

What is Yellow Clay?

This type of clay is packed with fine mineral particles such as iron oxide, which gives the clay its yellow colour. The concentration of the iron oxide determines the depth of its yellow hues. Contrary to common misconception, though this clay contains iron, it has no aluminium present in it. The clay helps to supply essential minerals to the skin. Being extremely mild and gentle, it can be safely used on dry and sensitive skin.

How is Yellow Clay used?

Typically French yellow clay is a highly potent cleanser that can draw out impurities from the skin even from deep within pores, while replenishing the skin with vital minerals. It scrubs off dead skin cells, while tightening and toning the skin, thus leaving it feeling smooth, radiant, and fresh. This clay can be used in body wraps, soap making, face masks, body and hair packs, face or body scrubs, shampoos, poultices, cosmetics and facial powders.

Has your skin acquired a dull look? Is it bereft of its natural radiance? French yellow clay, or yellow clay as it is commonly known, helps to restore the skin’s lost glow while providing the necessary nourishment. Learn more about our Yellow Clay Mask.

Yellow Clay Face Mask Benefits

As with other types of clay, yellow clay also offers a host of benefits, especially when it comes to extracting toxins from the skin that cause a great deal of underlying damage. Here goes:

Do you know what happens when toxins accumulate? They slowly damage the skin health, while free radicals run rampant causing more underlying harm. A yellow clay facial mask attracts the toxins in the skin, pulls them out, and helps in repairing cells as well. Any inflammation caused due to excessive toxicity can be soothed if this mask is applied regularly.

Congested or clogged skin is skin with large pores and blackheads. It appears thick and dull in appearance. Many people think dirt is the culprit for clogged pores, since blackheads are dark in color making them look like dirt stuck in the pore. The real cause of congested skin is a buildup of dead skin cells and the solution is regular, gentle exfoliation. Every three to four weeks the skin replenishes new cells, causing a layer of dead skin cells to form on the top of the skin. Once these cells mix with excess oil they sink down into your pores and form the dark-coloured clogs known as blackheads. This problem can also lead to the formation of whiteheads and acne blemishes when left untreated. Many products are available that claim to exfoliate gently, but scrub the skin harshly, so it becomes overly dry and flaky. The gently abrasive nature of the yellow clay sloughs off dead skin cells, dirt, and other impurities, thus exfoliating thoroughly but without making the skin too dry. The pores get to breathe, while your skin feels clean and fresh.

Oily and unclean skin can also cause oils to settle around the pores, making them appear larger as the skin around them thickens. Skin thickens, too, from sun damage and ageing as cells build up around pore openings. The minerals in the clay mask refine the pores and make them shrink so they become smaller and tighter.

Did you know this clay works wonders for those with serious skin issues? Yellow clay can be safely used on mild eczema patches, and is gentle enough for those with rosacea and psoriasis. Hydrated clay binds with toxins to draw them out, and also works the same way with bacteria and pathogens. Once the mask is applied, it will bind to the bacteria on the surface and deep in the pores. This dried up bacteria is then brought to the surface so it can be washed away when you remove the mask.

Those with sensitive skin and serious skin conditions, often experience severe itching or irritation due to rashes and allergic reactions. The yellow clay mask imparts a lovely healing effect that calms irritated skin.

Don’t underestimate the importance of blood circulation to your face. Poor circulation affects appearance, and causes the skin to become uneven and blotchy.  Increasing facial blood circulation can improve the complexion and provide a more youthful look. Yellow clay masks drastically enhance blood flow to skin.

All the gunk piled up on the surface of the skin, and within pores can be effectively washed off with a clay mask. The skin becomes absolutely clear and smooth.

Yellow Clay Face Mask Recipe

This isn’t a fixed formula to prepare a face mask, but just one of many methods. You could use rose water or honey to activate our powder face mask. Take a look:

● Combine a tasp of Hawaii Twist Clay Mask with tsp of water.
● Mix thoroughly in a bowl. Please use non-metallic utensils and bowls or the metal will react with the clay and neutralize the effect of the face mask.
● Apply over the face, while avoiding the area around eyes, and leave on for 10 minutes. If you have eczema, psoriasis or rosacea, please don’t wait for the mask to get overly dry – leaving it on for about 3 to 5 minutes is sufficient.
● Use warm water to wash it off. If you have oily or congested skin, you can leave on for 5 to 7 minutes, dampen down, and gently massage off for more exfoliation.
● Wash off with warm water. Floral water or aloe vera gel juice is an amazing alternative to water.
● The skin might look slightly pink afterwards, but there is nothing to worry about as it is due to increased circulation!

To sum up, French yellow clay is fabulous for detoxifying skin, cleansing deeply, unblocking congested pores, restoring essential minerals that help repair skin, improving overall texture, and inducing a healing effect.
